Technical Writer – Infrastructure AIoT

We’re looking for a deeply technical contract writer to join our fast-paced team and help us draft high-accuracy contracts and documentation. This is not a marketing or editorial writing position—this is technical contract writing for complex engineering and AI systems. You will collaborate directly with product managers and engineers to distill specifications into clear, concise, and legally sound documentation suitable for client-facing agreements and internal processes. This role is ideal for someone with experience translating deeply technical concepts into formal, structured documents like Statements of Work (SOWs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and technical specs—particularly in sectors like AI, robotics, infrastructure, or embedded systems. Scope and Duration10hrs/week for 6 months. Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to understand deliverables, technical scope, and business objectives. Draft and revise highly technical contracts (e.g., for clients in infrastructure sectors like wastewater, electrical utilities, or asset monitoring). Translate real-time, cloud, and edge AI specifications into language suitable for legal review and client execution. Ensure technical clarity and compliance with internal documentation and legal standards. Create and maintain documentation around “digital twin” systems, IoT hardware, AI deployments, and related infrastructure components. Work quickly and iteratively—being responsive to fast-changing requirements and tight timelines. QualificationsRequired:5+ years of experience as a technical writer, preferably with a strong background in infrastructure, robotics, AI, or IoT. Demonstrated experience drafting technical contracts, SOWs, MSAs, and system documentation. Strong understanding of:AI systems (particularly in infrastructure or industrial applications)Embedded hardware and firmwareCloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)Edge computing and data systemsMobile-integrated technology ecosystemsAbility to shadow engineers or product owners and work independently to deliver drafts. Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and communication skills. Preferred:Background or certification in engineering or systems architecture. Prior work with “digital twin” technology or sensor-based infrastructure systems. Experience collaborating with legal counsel on contract-ready documents. Based in the Bay Area or open to periodic collaboration with a Bay Area-based team.
