The incumbent will coordinate various safety assessments for the systems in accordance with industry standards like the SAE ARP4761 and ARP4754A. Also, the Safety Engineer will provide guidance and support around design and architecture based on the findings of the various safety assessments. Interfacing with customer and other team members the candidate must be able to work independently. Excellent communication skills will be required. Required CompetenciesSystem Safety Engineer with more than 5 years’ experience in aerospace development project/program. Industry experience designing and bring up safety critical complex electrical circuits. Strong experience in architecture definition and function management. Self-starter/autonomous worker. Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral) and good team player. Available full-time. Technical knowledge and experience (at least one, ideally several items below):Strong knowledge of the overall ARP4761 process. Experience in generating Safety Assessments – FHA, FTA, SSA, FMECA, CMAs, PRAs. Experience in ARP 4754A. Experience with Functional safety, DO-254, DO-330, DO-331. Knowledge of software development process, DO-178. Knowledge of system qualification processes, like DO-160. Knowledge of system / component reliability tools and standards. Experience in the following systems is an asset:Avionics electronics (compute, OS, GPS, IMU, magnetometer, air data, etc.)Understanding of Powerplant functions, development and certificationOther CompetenciesFamiliar with aircraft, rotorcraft and EVTOL certification processesMiscellaneous RequirementsWork can be done remotely. For employees based in Montreal, the work model is hybrid (at least one day at the office). The position might require travel to visit customers.
