Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to join our Legal Engineering team. As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level legal solutions that operate in a highly performant, efficient, and compliant manner. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture of our legal technology solutions, driving innovation, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet the evolving needs of our business. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the strategy and architecture of our technology stack supporting the Legal Department, including various tool sets, automation, cloud access and integration, and enablement tools. Build and maintain a roadmap that aligns with stakeholders' needs and wants, and present a vision and strategic recommendations with clarity and concision to stakeholders having varying degrees of technology fluency. Work closely with the Legal Department to manage, innovate, and create new programs, direction, and analytics that balance and improve legal service delivery. Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to foster a culture of continuous learning and DevOps mindset, and champion the implementation of engineering quality to include unit testing, automation testing, security testing, among others. Foster effective collaboration and communication across teams to align priorities, share best practices, and ensure smooth coordination for incident response, system maintenance, and upgrades. Report on progress for key projects and other important measurables, and present detailed plans to mitigate identified project risks. Accountable for team budget, resource allocations, and vendor relationships to optimize costs and maintain high-quality outcomes. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have: Proven experience in a technology leadership role supporting legal, risk & compliance, regulatory, or similar teams. Knowledge of cloud computing technologies, concepts, security best practices, and compliance standards. Leadership and team management skills with a passion for mentoring and fostering professional growth. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for driving operational efficiency and automation. Fluency with at least one modern language such as Python, Java, Go, and experience with open-source software. Fluency with at least two of the following: . NET, HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, JSON, RESTful Web Services, and Event-Driven Architectures. Experience developing and deploying applications in AWS or similar public cloud environments. Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: 6+ years of software architecture and development/coding experience. 4+ years of experience with systems architecture and design. 4+ years of development in a large-scale, mission-critical environment. 2+ years of experience with automated testing, including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
