Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle). Install, configure, and maintain non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB). Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies are implemented and maintained. Monitor database performance and perform tuning, optimization, and scaling. Implement security best practices for data access, encryption, and auditing. Design and maintain database schemas, tables, and stored procedures. Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to support data-driven applications. Perform routine database maintenance including upgrades, patches, and capacity planning. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely and efficient manner. Support migration and data replication projects across different environments. Document database configurations, processes, and standards. Technical SkillsProven experience with relational databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle. Proven experience with non-relational databases: MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis, or similar. Strong SQL scripting, performance tuning, and indexing knowledge. Understanding of data replication, sharding, partitioning, and clustering. Experience with backup and recovery strategies in both relational and non-relational environments. Familiarity with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Google Cloud SQL, MongoDB Atlas). Knowledge of database security, encryption, and compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc). Soft SkillsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to cross-functional teams. Comfortable working in Agile or DevOps environments. Strong documentation and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation). Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic). Experience with containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and their data persistence strategies. Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) are a plus.
