Job Summary As a Special Education Student Attendant, you will work closely with our educational team to provide essential support to students with a range of disabilities. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support to students with diverse needs, assisting with academic, social, and emotional development. Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to develop and implement individualized support plans. Assist with the implementation of behavioral interventions and strategies to promote positive behavior. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and support plans. Operate wheelchairs and other mechanical devices designed to aid students with disabilities. Assist with the implementation of CPR/First Aid training and restraint procedures. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure seamless support. Essential Qualifications Ability to obtain an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively with other personnel and maintain confidentiality. Proficient in basic computer skills and able to use educational software. Ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted and operate wheelchairs and other mechanical devices. Valid CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Experience working with children with emotional and physical disabilities preferred. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field. Previous experience working in an educational setting. Knowledge of devices and equipment commonly used in public schools. Experience with behavioral interventions and strategies. Skills and Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents. Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational environment. Empathy and understanding of diverse student needs. Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
