Job Outline and Responsibilities As a Senior Data Scientist - Statistics at blithequark, you'll play a pivotal role in providing mathematical modeling and analysis services to support critical financial, operational, and strategic planning decisions. Your expertise will help drive business growth, improve decision-making, and solve complex problems. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement methodologies and techniques to define and solve business problems through quantitative analysis and analytical models using statistics, machine learning, forecasting techniques, and structured programming languages. Identify, analyze, and solve large, complex issues using big data and insights, forecasting, and machine learning principles. Utilize your understanding of the business cycle to identify and execute statistical, forecasting, and machine learning solutions that drive significant bottom-line contributions. Build and develop statistical, forecasting, and machine learning model applications, and provide client support using operations research data. Participate in model design, model development, and model enhancement for multiple projects simultaneously, and engage with product delivery groups. Communicate results to management and clients, and contribute to deck content and narrative development. Develop and deliver presentations aligned with AI standards, and stay updated on the latest scientific methods and research in statistics, forecasting, machine learning, and analytics. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A postgraduate education (PhD or ABD) in Statistics or a related quantitative discipline. Coursework or work experience with statistical and/or forecasting methods, and proficiency in statistical packages such as SAS or SPSS, Minitab, or BI tools. Experience with structured programming languages like C, C++, Java, R, or Python. Excellent business, technical, verbal/written communication, presentation, and sales skills, with adaptability to a changing business environment. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with clients. Proficiency with MS Office, and successful completion of an interview to meet job capabilities. Reliable attendance and the legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge: A minor in computer science or formal advanced computer science coursework. 2+ years of professional experience in a scientific field, with 1+ year of experience in the airline industry. 1+ year of experience designing and programming/coding data structures for large-scale computer models. Experience with the Julia programming language and knowledge of blithequark/industry data sources. A proven ability to create business value.
