Position Summary Wellesley’s admission process is based on a thorough, detailed, and holistic evaluation of each candidate for admission. The seasonal reader will work in partnership with the admission counselors in reviewing the applications of candidates for admission. The team based reading process involves analyzing credentials, reviewing recommendations, personal essays, and other application documents, providing a summary evaluation and decision recommendation for each applicant, and participating in Admission Committee reviews. We cannot consider candidates for this position who are a) parents, guardians or siblings of a high school senior, regardless of whether she plans to apply to Wellesley; b) independent college consultants who charge a fee to any students applying or planning to apply to Wellesley; c) employees or regular volunteers of any other undergraduate institution. The seasonal readers will need to commit to reading and committee time from October to March. Readers will be busiest in late December through mid-February. With a few exceptions, we expect that most reading will happen during regular work hours (8:30-4:30) on weekdays. Occasional reading or committee work on the weekends may be required. Reading and committee work will primarily be conducted remotely. All readers will be required to attend reader training in October, which may be in person at the Admission Office or remote. Additional mandatory training sessions may be offered through webinars and other online tools at the readers convenience. Primary Position Responsibilities • Holistic evaluation of applications • Attending trainings and committee meetings Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree required. Skills and Abilities • No exact experience needed, but some related work in education or previous application reading preferred. • Ability to work in a dynamic environment in collaboration with a diverse group of colleagues. • Solid technical/computer skills, including regular use of email and ability to use online tools effectively and efficiently; access to reliable high speed internet connection Employees are expected to live within daily commuting distance of campus in order to work in person when scheduled or as needed.
