Senior Postgres Developer Must live and prove residence in one of the following States: OH, MI, IL, CO, TN, MT, MA, RI, IN, FL US Citizen or Green Card First & Last name plus current City & State of residence required to be given consideration We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Postgres Developer with 7 years of hands-on database development experience—primarily in PostgreSQL environments—to design, build, and maintain stable, high-performance data systems. This role will be a key contributor within our IT Product Development organization, partnering with developers, architects, BI teams, administrators, and stakeholders to ensure our database solutions are optimized, scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise needs. This opportunity is ideal for someone who has deep experience with PostgreSQL engineering in modern cloud environments (AWS preferred), strong performance tuning skills, and a passion for data architecture, analytics enablement, automation, and modernization efforts. Candidates with experience similar to senior PostgreSQL administrators/engineers who have worked across RDS, Aurora, Redshift, microservices, and Infrastructure as Code will be especially well-aligned. Responsibilities • Design and implement scalable, high-performance PostgreSQL development. • Continuously refine and improve database performance and query optimization. • Modernize data infrastructure to support AWS cloud-native architectures, microservices, and event-driven frameworks. • Partner with BI teams to enhance analytics and reporting capabilities. • Leverage AI and automation to accelerate database development and operations. • Support and enable data microservices architecture. • Ensure data integrity, governance, security, and compliance best practices. • Gather requirements from users and business teams; translate into technical features. • Collaborate with developers to improve applications and database integration. • Create and maintain technical documentation, training materials, and SOPs. Required Skills & Experience • 7+ years of database development experience; extensive PostgreSQL expertise required. • Proven work experience as a senior PostGreSQL Developer, including pgplsql. • Advanced SQL skills, including writing complex queries and performance tuning (pgplsql). • Strong experience with AWS data services: Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform highly desirable). • Familiarity with Amazon Aurora, NoSQL databases, and AWS RDS management. • Experience working with data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and modern data architectures. • Deep understanding of data management, security, permissions, recovery, and monitoring. • System architecture thinking and cloud-native design mindset. • Proficient with Git and Agile/Scrum methodologies. • Experience with data mesh, domain-driven design, or data lake frameworks is a plus. • Strong problem-solving abilities under tight deadlines. • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Microsoft Office. • Proficiency with modern AI-powered engineering tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT).
