Job Summary As the Head Custodian at Hahanan Middle School, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily cleaning and maintenance operations of the school facilities. This includes managing a team of custodians, coordinating schedules, and ensuring that all areas of the school are clean, safe, and well-maintained. You will work closely with school administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure that the facilities meet the needs of the educational community. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the custodial staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing guidance and support as needed. Develop and implement effective cleaning and maintenance schedules to ensure that all areas of the school are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Conduct regular inspections of the school facilities to identify areas that require attention and develop plans to address these needs. Manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials, and ensure that all necessary items are ordered and stocked. Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure that the facilities meet the needs of the educational community. Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff. Maintain accurate records of cleaning and maintenance activities, including schedules, inventory, and personnel records. Essential Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Five (5) years of custodial experience, with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination. Verification of high school diploma or equivalent; and five (5) years custodial experience verified on company letterhead signed by a supervisor. Negative TB test results under 1 year old; BCSD strongly encourages all applicants to upload their TB test results. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an educational setting; knowledge of school policies and procedures. Certification in custodial management or a related field; OSHA certification preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff. Skills and Competencies: Strong leadership and management skills; ability to supervise and motivate a team.
