Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Systems Engineer with a strong background in Kafka administration to join our team. As a Kafka Admin, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Kafka infrastructure, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems. Your expertise in Terraform, GitHub, GKE, Java, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and AWS will be essential in driving our technology initiatives forward. Key Responsibilities Implement changes into production environments following established change control methodologies, ensuring minimal disruption to our operations. Conduct technical design and reviews based on architectural guidance, providing expert advice and recommendations to stakeholders. Take ownership of project execution, solution development, and building, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results. Serve as a subject matter expert on specific technology domains, providing guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders. Proactively manage availability and scalability, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to optimize our systems. Collaborate with others to resolve complex technical issues, providing expert problem-solving skills and creative solutions. Develop and maintain documentation of our systems, processes, and procedures, ensuring that knowledge is shared and accessible across the organization. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of experience with infrastructure technologies, with a focus on Kafka administration. Experience with specific domains relevant to our team, including cloud computing, DevOps, and IT service management. Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Kafka, Terraform, GitHub, GKE, Java, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and AWS. Familiarity with orchestration pipelines and experience working in environments with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.). Previous experience in the PBM/healthcare industry, with an understanding of the security implications of our domain. ITIL Foundations Certification, or equivalent, demonstrating a commitment to IT service management best practices. Skills and Competencies Excellent written, technical, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve shared goals. Strong traits of decisiveness and judgment, with the ability to make informed decisions and prioritize tasks effectively.
