Job Summary As a Remote Audio Operator I, you will be responsible for providing sound engineering (A1) and additional sound support (A2) for live events, studio productions, and pre-recorded content. You will work closely with the ESPN team to ensure high-quality audio that meets their standards. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Key Responsibilities Mix and monitor all audio sources, including microphones, music, audio effects, and natural sound, to ensure high-quality audio for live events, studio productions, and pre-recorded content. Set up and operate sound consoles, portable equipment, and audio routing systems to ensure seamless audio delivery. Measure and analyze audio signals to ensure quality control and adherence to ESPN's audio standards. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues using effective communication and problem-solving skills. Collaborate with A2s and other technical staff to ensure smooth audio operations and workflow. Provide guidance and support to A2s and set up communication systems for mobile units. Work flexibly to accommodate changing schedules, including weekends and holidays, as required. Essential Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in remote production operations at the network level in an A1 role. Proficient in mixing sound systems and 5.1 program feeds. Knowledgeable in the use and reading of sound metering devices, including an Encompass Sound Analyzer, Phase meter, and Loudness Meters. Strong understanding of sound boards and control surfaces, audio signal flow concepts, radio systems, signal conversion equipment, and communication boards. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues and solutions effectively. Preferred Qualifications Strong knowledge of broadcast interchange equipment and remote production show needs. Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
