Job Overview The Patient Account Specialist is a critical position within our customer support team, responsible for handling incoming calls from patients and providing timely and effective solutions to their billing and insurance-related queries. As a Patient Account Specialist at blithequark, you will be the primary point of contact for our patients, and your exceptional communication skills, empathy, and problem-solving abilities will enable you to build trust and rapport with our patients, ensuring a positive experience and promoting loyalty to our brand. Key Responsibilities Respond to inbound calls from patients, addressing their billing and insurance-related questions and concerns in a professional and courteous manner. Effectively communicate with patients to resolve billing issues, taking payments, and setting up payment plans as needed. Review accounts with outstanding balances or incorrect balances, utilizing your analytical skills to identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and blithequark's policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable (AR) Team to resolve complex billing issues and ensure seamless communication with patients. Refer difficult calls or situations to your team lead or manager, demonstrating your ability to prioritize and manage challenging situations effectively. Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating your flexibility and commitment to supporting the team and the organization. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent experience, with a preference for candidates with call center experience and/or medical billing experience. Exceptional communication skills, including oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in a clear and concise manner. Active listening skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask, with a strong focus on providing excellent customer service. Ability to solve problems in a timely manner, utilizing your analytical skills and knowledge of billing and insurance procedures. Self-motivation and discipline to work independently in a remote environment, with a quiet, HIPAA-compliant workspace and minimal distractions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technologies. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience in the healthcare industry, with a strong understanding of medical billing and insurance procedures. Call center experience, with a proven track record of providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements, with a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and data security.
