Job Overview We're looking for a skilled Distributed Systems Engineer to join our Data Platform team at blithequark. As a Distributed Systems Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our infrastructure as we strive to reach 500 million people worldwide. You'll be working on building and maintaining scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available distributed systems that meet the evolving needs of our business. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain large-scale distributed systems features and applications Build and operate a scalable query gateway that facilitates data abstractions to work at sub-millisecond latencies Enable Netflix microservices to store, consume, and manage their data more efficiently Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and TPMs across groups Drive technical innovation and contribute to the open-source community through Netflix OSS Participate in the development of high-impact systems, control, and deployment frameworks calibrated for running data frameworks at scale Work on building features and performance enhancements for distributed data processing and storage systems Essential Qualifications 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems features or applications Proficiency in designing and developing scalable web services Experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems Knowledge of Java or other object-oriented programming languages Comfortable with multi-threading and concurrency BS in Computer Science or a related field Preferred Qualifications Experience with distributed data processing and storage systems such as Apache Spark, Presto/Trino, Druid, and Iceberg Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and platforms Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices Experience working with open-source communities and contributing to OSS projects Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment What You'll Gain As a Distributed Systems Engineer at blithequark, you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging and impactful projects that drive business growth and innovation.
