Introduction to Our Institution Faribault Public Schools, a rural Pre-K through Adult School District located about 50 miles south of the Twin-Cities, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Fourth Grade Classroom Teacher to join our team as a 1.0 FTE Long-term Substitute. About the Role We are looking for a skilled and passionate educator to fill the position of Fourth Grade Classroom Teacher - 1.0 FTE Long-term Substitute at Jefferson Elementary School. The assignment is scheduled to run from November 13, 2023, through February 20, 2024, offering a unique chance to be part of our educational community during a critical period of the academic year. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons to fourth-grade students, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of a diverse student body. Collaborate with the grade-level team, special education team, and specialists to develop and implement instructional strategies that promote student learning and achievement. Use the Responsive Classroom approach consistently, conducting regular class meetings, supportive exchanges, and clear expectations to foster a positive and respectful learning environment. Assess student progress and understanding, using a range of assessment tools and strategies to inform instruction and adjust teaching practices as needed. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about student progress and involving them in the educational process through regular updates and conferences. Support and follow School Board policies and procedures, contributing to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: A valid teaching license in Elementary Education from the State of Minnesota. A strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment methods, with the ability to apply these in a practical and effective manner. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader community. A commitment to ongoing professional development, with a willingness to engage in continuous learning and improvement. A passion for teaching and learning, with a genuine interest in the educational and personal development of students. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with students in a similar age group and educational setting. Familiarity with the Responsive Classroom approach and its application in a teaching context. Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, with a commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment. Experience with technology integration in the classroom, including the use of digital tools and resources to support teaching and learning. A strong understanding of child development principles, with the ability to apply these in a practical and effective manner.
