Over the last few years, Generation Patient has led over 650 peer support meetings, driven policy agendas in clinical trial representation, patent reform, and increased oversight of pharmaceutical advertisements on social media. The organization has also provided feedback to federal agencies and contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications, empowering patient-led evidence generation. Although Generation Patient was formally established as a nonprofit in 2018, its roots date back to 2012 with an initial focus on young adults living with inflammatory bowel diseases. Since then, the organization has expanded its mission to represent young adults with all chronic and rare conditions (i.e., lupus, arthritis, sickle cell, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.), while continuing to operate one standalone disease-specific program in inflammatory bowel disease. Today, Generation Patient is supported by three full-time staff members and three contractors, with plans to double its team within the next two years to meet the growing need. Generation Patient has established itself as a leading voice in patient advocacy, disability justice, and access to medicines, forging impactful partnerships and coalitions both in the U.S. and internationally. Supported by respected funders including Arnold Ventures and the Commonwealth Fund, the organization maintains full independence by declining all private health industry funding, including from the pharmaceutical, insurance, and PBM industries, ensuring accountability and integrity to the young adult patients it represents. Director of Operations, Human Resources, and Development The Director of Operations, Human Resources, and Development (Director of Operations) holds a central leadership role at Generation Patient, ensuring that the organization’s infrastructure, systems, and financial management effectively support its mission to advance health equity and amplify the voices of young adult patients. This position combines operational excellence with hands-on oversight of finances, grants, and organizational coordination across programs and staff. The Director of Operations partners with the Executive Director to ensure that organizational priorities move from idea to action. This role supports the entire team by coordinating follow-through and keeping the organization aligned—not by taking on others’ work, but by ensuring the right work gets done on time and together. This role will include project management. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Generation Patient recognizes that diverse perspectives drive strong solutions. We encourage applications from individuals of all races, ethnicities, disabilities, gender identities, and lived experiences, especially those shaped by or connected to chronic health conditions in young adulthood.
