Development and Communication Specialist

Description: Family Star Montessori is currently seeking to hire an experienced part time seasonal Development and Communication Specialist supporting both our Northwest and Northeast Denver locations. This is a remote position but due to State taxation regulations, ONLY COLORADO RESIDENTS WILL BE CONSIDERED. This role reports directly to the Sr. Director of Community Partnerships and to the Executive Director . The responsibilities of this role include the following: Development and Communications (85%): • Obtain letters of support from the Board of Directors or other stakeholders for funding requests • Prepare and distribute school, program, board, and stakeholder correspondence, both in print and electronic formats, including the annual report, quarterly newsletters, emails, presentation slides, and solicitation mailings • Maintain and manage organizational email and response accordingly • Maintain and manage social media scheduling platform for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn • Produce relevant graphics, photos, and video content for all social channels • Ensure that up-to-date, relevant information is posted to the website, while ensuring accuracy and functionality Executive Director Support (10%): • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including calendar management, meeting scheduling, and drafting organizational information. • Assist in creating, editing, and proofreading documents as needed. Collaborate with the Executive Director on special projects and initiatives as requested. Board Secretary (5%): • Coordinate board meetings, including scheduling, agenda creation, and distribution of materials. • Attend board meetings, record accurate minutes, and maintain official records of board actions and decisions. Family Star is unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time; therefore, must be eligible to work in the United States. Requirements: • Minimum of 2 years' experience in communications, outreach, development • Extreme attention to detail • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment • Strong work ethic, excellent time-management, and organizational skills • Motivation to work independently and/or part of a team with a positive attitude and a commitment to customer service • Ability to collect and process information from various departments and multiple sources • Meet internal and external project deadlines • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills • Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms • Experience with Constant Contact • Experience with content development and administration of a website • Familiarity with nonprofit governance and board practices • Experience in grant writing • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check Preferred skillsets: • Bilingual (English/Spanish) About Family Star: For over 35 years, Family Star Montessori’s two Denver locations have been transforming early childhood education by uniquely combining Montessori philosophy with Early Head Start/Head Start programing.
