The Role As a founding Data Engineer, you will design and own the data pipelines and integrations that power Skiffra’s AI-native orchestration platform. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role working directly with the founding team on zero-to-one systems deployed in complex, real environments. What You’ll Do • Build and maintain real-time and batch data pipelines across enterprise systems • Integrate ERPs, operational tools, APIs, and legacy systems into a clean internal data layer • Design schemas and data contracts consumed by LLMs, agents, and workflow engines • Own ingestion, normalization, and transformation of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data • Partner closely with product and engineering to translate operational needs into data systems • Implement monitoring, observability, and baseline data quality checks • Operate with speed and rigor in environments where reliability matters What We’re Looking For • 7+ years building production data or backend systems • Strong Python and SQL • Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and API-based integrations • Familiarity with cloud data infrastructure and streaming or event-driven systems • Ability to work independently and make sound technical tradeoffs • Comfort operating without perfect requirements or documentation Nice to Have • Experience with industrial, operational, or enterprise data systems • Exposure to AI- or ML-adjacent data workflows • Experience designing systems consumed by LLMs or agents • Startup or founding-team experience How We Work We value speed, clarity, and technical rigor. Location & Work Model This is a hybrid role with regular in-person collaboration in Los Angeles or the San Francisco Bay Area. We are not a remote-only company.
