As a remote writer, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere in Georgia (USA) or Illinois (USA), and contribute to our mission of amplifying the voices of educators and sharing insightful stories about education. As a Contract Education Writer, you will work closely with our editorial team to research, write, and discuss topics in education that matter to teachers. If you're a dynamic educator with a passion for writing and a knack for storytelling, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities: • Conduct thorough research on various topics in education, drawing from personal experiences and current events in classrooms, schools, and districts. • Write engaging articles, news posts, reviews, and features that cater to the needs and interests of teachers. • Uncover newsworthy stories and share unique perspectives on education topics, using evidence-based writing. • Collaborate with the editor-in-chief and news staff to generate content ideas and stay up-to-date on local, national, and international education affairs. Requirements: • Proven work experience as a certified teacher, principal, or counselor in grades PreK-16. • Excellent writing skills in English, with the ability to write honestly and thoughtfully about education topics. • Computer proficiency (MS Office, digital editing, web search, and databases). • Willingness to submit at least one article per week, with a commitment to meeting deadlines. • Good observation skills, with the ability to identify and write about "hot button" topics in education.
