Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Applied Scientist, with a focus on Language Modeling, to join our team. The person who fills this role will apply ML/AI principles and practices to designing, developing, fine-tuning, personalizing, and miniaturizing language models for use within brain-computer interface applications to have real-world impact on patients with physical disabilities. Key ResponsibilitiesLeveraging a deep understanding of LMs to create custom solutions for brain-computer interface applications, including LLM fine-tuning, customization, and dissectionExploring a variety of LM tokenizations and embeddings for better integration into other decoding pipelinesWorking collaboratively within a small team to iterate on models and integrate LMs into product applicationsDeveloping lightweight LMs, sequence-decoding algorithms, and other approaches for portable model deploymentCharacterizing agentic AI tools for suitability within product applicationsMaintaining versioned, clear, and highly documented code, analysis pipelines, and results for maximum interpretability and reproducibilityContribute to documentation for a Quality Management System, as appropriate and relevant to ML implementations that become part of medical productsRequired QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Math, Engineering, Data Science, or other relevant quantitative fieldA minimum of 5 years of combined academic and professional ML experienceExperience designing, developing, and deploying LM models in an industry settingExperience designing, training, and evaluating transformersProficiency in Python and PyTorchProficiency in using GPUs and GPU software toolkits to accelerate ML pipelinesPreferred QualificationsExperience working with reinforcement learning, LLM alignment and safety, and multilingual modelingExperience working on medical or clinical applicationsExperience developing foundation models and applying transfer-learning techniquesExperience translating methods described in scientific publications to available datasetsWhat We OfferAn opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge projects to transform patients’ lives in a highly collaborative work environment.
