Accounts Payable Specialist

Great River Energy is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for supporting a variety of accounting functions with an emphasis in accounts payable in a fully automated environment. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, knowledge of accounting principles, and experience processing invoices in an automated AP system. Responsibilities Process vendor invoices in a fully automated system; review for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with internal buyers and vendors Prepare ACH, wire, credit card, and check payments; upload files for bank processing Perform general ledger tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparing financial reports and schedules Manage sales and use tax calculations and accruals, corporate credit card analysis, and appropriate uploads to the general ledger Support special projects, data analysis requests, and process improvements to enhance AP efficiency Skills Two-year degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field OR equivalent experience Experience processing accounts payable invoices in an automated AP system Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including journal entries and general ledger functions Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate across business teams and work effectively in a team environment Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy, meet deadlines, and follow defined processes Experience or working knowledge of sales & use tax laws and procedures Benefits Exceptional benefits and retirement Focus on continuous engagement Recognition Personal and professional development Emphasis on work-life effectiveness Company Overview Great River Energy is a electric transmission and generation cooperative.
